“Had them come out to our new home, it is in the country and we had seen a mouse. We have never had pest issues at our old home so I didn't know what to expect but I'd looked online at what a pest company might do for mice:block entry points, put out traps and possibly poison. The man that came out told me finding and blocking entry points was a waste of time, that it was all about bait stations and poison. I didn't want poison because I was afraid of mice dying and smelling bad.. his response was that with this newest type of poison it dries out the dead mouse so quickly that at the most you might get an odor for a few hours, if that. Many reading this are probably laughing.. well, of course this isn't true, and just be assured that even ONE dead mouse will smell TERRIBLE!!! He said he would come back in a week and never did. The cost $130, if I had paid with a credit card I would have blocked the charge. Had a different exterminator out from a company that's been in Springfield for years, he laughed at what happened, blocked all entries with steal wool, talked about all possible points mice could come in, like our broken garage door seal, sprayed for bugs inside and out, put out some extra poison at entry points, talked to us about how mice like to move around and strategically placed traps and gave us extras in case we trapped mice or spiders, gave us tips on how to deal with the smell if one died.. he charged us $55 and gave us his cell if we had questions. The owner of PTI came and gave us an estimate on our sump pump and moisture barrier being redone. Which was $1200. When the service man came to install it, I started asking more questions (because of the lies from the pest control side of the company) and it all didn't add up.. also, the quality of the sump pump they were going to use had the WORST reviews of any on the market and that showed me a LOT about the company. The "moisture barrier" they were going to do was laying sheets of plastic over the same EXACT type of plastic we already had. Called and got estimates from other companies, good thing I did because I saved myself $850!! And the company used a top of the line sump pump for less money and it only took them an HOUR to install, not a HALF DAY. They also took pictures of everything under our home and showed us how they had installed it and what they had done and also went into detail on everything, showing us before and after. Also the feed back from everyone was that our moisture barrier was fine and that laying more plastic sheeting over our plastic sheeting would do nothing but cost us money, which makes sense because the two home inspections we had before purchase said it should be fine as well.”
