We recommend this trap as our best for a variety of reasons. The trap is humane and does not have to harm the animal to work which is why we believe this is the best overall trap for catching gophers. If you do not want to hurt the animal but get them away from your garden, this is the way to go.

The trap is easy to assemble and works by hanging bait from a trigger hook. Once the gopher goes inside and begins to pull on the hook with the bait, it sets off the gate. The gate closes, and the gopher is now trapped inside. The cage works excellent, closes each time, and does not allow the gopher to escape.

This trap is our choice for the best single door because it has a nice sensitive trigger and smaller mesh wiring so once something steps on the trigger it will not escape. This single door trap also does not harm the animal and is designed in a way that prevents the animal from harming itself once its inside. The spring loaded door makes sure nothing escapes, and the animal does not get stuck in anything once it’s trapped.

The cage itself does not have any rough edges or sharp corners so nothing will harm itself.

This two-door cage is made by the same company that makes the one door cage so you know we would recommend this as well. The enclosure is constructed well and prevents anything that enters from escaping because they make them with very sensitive trigger hooks.

The primary difference between the two cages is that this one has two doors which allow animals to enter from either direction and you could also catch two animals if you are lucky. The enclosures get constructed of rust resistant galvanized wire to prevent any corrosion.

This trap works like a standard chain trap where you bait in and place in the area where you think the Gophers are going, and once they take the bait, they get caught in the trap and are stuck there.
