Best Ant Traps

Ant traps do not always function like a regular “trap.” A trap is often something that works to contain a pest and keep it in an area, but the best ant traps work to kill the entire colony at the source.

The best ant traps are ones that allow the worker ants to consume some of the bait and then take the rest back to the colony to infect as many ants as possible. The goal is for the worker ants to nfect the queen which would eventually kill off the entire colony. The poison then slowly kills all the ants and eliminates the infestation.

This depends really–it depends what kind of ant trap you have and where the infestation lives. If you have a feeding station, you could place just about anywhere you see ants, and you will most likely have success.

If you are using a sticky trap, you will have to be more strategic about your location. Keep an eye out for where the worker bees are traveling if they are indoors. If you see an area where there are an abundance of bees carrying things than that would be a good place to put a sticky trap. Try and keep your traps in an area where they will not get exposed to extreme temperature or moisture.

There are a variety of different traps that apply to each situation and location.
Some traps are meant to be placed outdoors and often have a stake at the bottom. These are typically made to control the ant population and kill off the colony at the source. Using these traps is an effective way to keep the ants out of your home for good.

Other traps are meant for the indoors, and these are often small buildings that require the ants to enter inside of it to take the bait. Another form of popular indoor trap is the glue traps that stick the ants to it and cause them to die to try to escape.

The last method is just sprinkling bait throughout your yard to attract the ants. This is popular for large infestations in open areas and fields. You spread the bait throughout your entire yard to control the population and keep them out of your home.

What method you use depends on your situation and level of concern.

If you want to have the most success in trapping your ants and get the most out of each trap, there are a few things you can do to make this happen easily. The best way to attract more pests to your trap is to ensure nothing is distracting them and making them want to stay away. Try and keep the trap as clean as possible and free of debris. Do not allow things to get in the way of access points on the trap either.

Try and keep the trap away from water or moisture, so the contents of the trap remain as active and strong as possible.

It’s also helpful to put traps in areas that are free of scent-related distractions as well. Put traps away from garbage cans because the garbage can attract the ants more than the trap will.
If you are not having success with a specific type of bait, try a different one. There are liquid, granular, and spray baits, so test each one out and see what works best for you.
