HomeTeam Pest Defense is a relative newcomer to the pest control industry, founded in the 1990s. However, they have grown rapidly in a short time, and are now the third largest residential pest control company in the United States.
When it comes to their overall quality, HomeTeam stands out for having expanded quickly to become the 3rd largest residential pest control provider in the country while remaining a unified company, growing primarily through acquisition as opposed to franchising. The company also gets points for its innovative Taexx system, which homebuilders integrate into new housing, and which allows HomeTeam to provide pest control services in the least intrusive and most targeted manner possible. In online reviews, customers have a few complaints about the punctuality of HomeTeam’s technicians, but beyond this, clients praised HomeTeam for their professionalism and effectiveness at pest control and expressed satisfaction with their customer service.
HomeTeam might be the option for you if you need help with:
HomeTeam provides free initial inspections to anyone who is considering using their service, no strings attached. During this inspection a certified technician canvases the interior and exterior of your home, searching for any warning signs of pests.
HomeTeam will return to fix any problems that arise in your home at no extra charge. Their annual plan provides this service to you for free, and if something occurs in between your regularly-scheduled visits, the company will come take care of it for you.
HomeTeam is the developer of the Taexx system, conduits installed in the walls of your home during its construction that allow targeted application of pesticides and repellents well away from a home’s living spaces. In monthly visits, a HomeTeam technician will inject the distribution lines with pest control materials. Treatments under this system are convenient and discreet. They also qualify for points from a variety of “Green” programs, such as the Florida Green Building Coalition, because this built-in system enables careful targeting of the pesticides.
The 6-Point Advantage approach is HomeTeam’s own twist on an Integrated Pest Management program that works with or without the Taexx system to focus on prevention and the minimal effective treatment.
A Word About Reviews
It can be difficult to judge pest control companies using online reviews: negative reviews tend to outnumber positive reviews for all companies. But looking at negative and positive reviews can give consumers some idea of the trends in a company’s performance.
Among customers and reviewers online, HomeTeam has a solid record of customer satisfaction, with a positive record on popular review sites. What’s more, HomeTeam routinely made an effort to reach out to people who left negative reviews in order to make things right.
By far the most frequent complaint lodged against HomeTeam was that their technicians failed to show up on time or call ahead, a common problem with pest control companies, but still worth noting. Overall, however, the number of positive ratings from customers suggests that they had largely a good experience with HomeTeam’s technicians.
We love Home Team. We have the TAEXX system installed in our home and we are serviced every 3 months. They knock down any webs on the outside as well as any wasp or hornets nests. If ants are in our yard (front and/or back) they get treated as well. We usually get a kid named Joey and he is extremely pleasant and sometimes another tech named Eric but whoever they send out will always ask how things are in the house or if we have any concerns. The one thing we also like about them is that the treatment they use outside of our home will not harm any of our 3 dogs once dry.
HomeTeam has a 100% satisfaction guarantee where they promise to return to your home until the job is finished. As noted above, their customer service representatives are quick to respond on consumer forums with an offer to come out and retreat the property for free.
There were very few complaints of HomeTeam providing ineffective service.
So far, we are happy with the services HomeTeam Pest Defense has provided. We moved in early this year and noticed 3 ant beds pop up and a few garden spiders inside the house (common with new builds) so we decided to give them a try. It’s been about a week and we have noticed dead bugs where they sprayed outside, and haven’t seen a single random insect inside since. This Taexx system and their quarterly visits seem to take the worry out of pest control completely, and with 2 children and a pet, I appreciate that so much!
Costs are hard to predict for any pest control issue, and they vary widely based on a number of factors. Most pest management companies don’t provide pricing information online, and instead choose to create custom quotes for each customer based on the location of the property, size of the house, and nature of the infestation. For that reason, we chose to review how well HomeTrust helps consumers control their costs.
HomeTeam does fairly well in this regard, largely because they provide free initial inspections. HomeTeam doesn’t make you purchase an annual contract either, which is another plus for them. While annual contracts are typically the best way to prevent pests in the long term, HomeTeam does not tie you down to their service.
