Our Aptive Review

Aptive is one of the country’s fastest-growing pest control companies. A very new player within the industry, it is expected to service more and more locations in coming years. Its brand has been built on outstanding customer service and employee relationships. But even with Aptive’s commitments to excellence as well as the environment, it does not offer free inspections or offerings outside of an annual contract. Particularly given its higher price point, this could make Aptive a costlier option in the long run.

Reliability

Our Rating:

Aptive is known to focus as much on their team member relationships as much as their customer relationships, giving employees and contractors the morale needed for a job well done. Company training focuses on ensuring that technicians know how to target pest problems at their source with the least possible impact to the environment. Technicians are also trained to properly record individual treatments and progress at each site visit to better understand what has been done and which treatments are working. Since it was founded in 2015, Aptive now has corporate locations in 26 states, servicing more than 1,500 cities. Even if your city isn’t currently serviced by Aptive, their fast growth suggests that it could be soon.

Pro

Because all of Aptive’s locations are corporate entities, customers can expect more consistent services and policies versus a company with franchised locations.

Con

Aptive is only three years old, so it has a smaller reach than legacy pest control companies. Some practices may not be as sound as the tried-and-true methods from an older firm.

Features & Services Provided

Our Rating:

Aptive offers pest control for a variety of insects and invasive species, including:

  • Ants
  • Spiders
  • Crickets
  • Fleas
  • Cockroaches
  • Wasps
  • Mice
  • Rats Slugs and snails
  • Silverfish
  • Earwigs
  • Slugs and snails

Aptive does not offer a specific list of treatments options, but they assert that they will treat your pest problem at the source in the most environmentally safe manner possible. Their pest list does not include mosquitoes or flies, though you may be able to schedule a more specific treatment through a customer representative.

Guarantee

Aptive offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all customers. Technicians will return for free to complete additional treatments if a pest problem returns between quarterly services.

Eco-Friendly Treatments

One of Aptive’s best service offerings are its eco-friendly options for every customer and pest problem. At the start of any contract, technicians perform an initial inspection in which they look for the habitat, water and food sources of pests. They conduct as much habitat modification as possible without using pesticides. Aptive applies products that are biodegradable and have the smallest effect on the environment as possible.

Technician Training

One unique aspect of Aptive’s technician training is their focus on data assessments. These assessments help both technicians and customers keep track of what is happening around the home and which treatments are working.

Additional Services

After completing any service, technicians will offer more specific tips and advice for customers to use depending on the problems they’ve identified and outcomes they’ve seen throughout a treatment cycle.

Pro

Aptive’s treatments focus is on targeting a pest problem at its source while doing so in an eco-friendly way – promises that are usually hard to find within the industry.

Con

Aptive’s catalog of pests that can be treated miss some common offenders such as bed bugs.

Customer Support & Reviews

Our Rating:

A Word About Reviews

It can be difficult to judge pest control companies using online reviews: negative reviews tend to outnumber positive reviews for all companies. But looking at negative and positive reviews can give consumers some idea of the trends in a company’s performance.

Aptive has an average of high reviews online from customers who were very satisfied with the company’s customer service. Its negative reviews were mainly isolated to pushy sales associates who were only a problem in certain areas and who do not necessarily reflect the sales techniques of the overall company.

Punctuality & Professionalism

Many of Aptive’s online reviews give high praise to the individual technicians who treat houses and businesses. Most customers take the time to review their technicians’ punctuality, friendliness and helpful attitudes, and most reviews cite a high level of customer service. Negative reviews about professionalism are mainly about aggressive door-to-door sales representatives.

We were very much impressed with Adam our Service Pro from Aptive. He arrived on time, was very courteous, dressed appropriately & went over each aspect of our service plan to make sure we didn’t have any questions.

John Kenney, Nashville TN

Persistence

Most of Aptive’s reviews show customers who are satisfied with their technicians’ performance and willingness to target all infested areas around a property. However, negative reviews also address difficulties in scheduling the guaranteed free retreatments or additional services for aggressive infestations.

Effectiveness

Most Aptive reviewers are pleased with the company’s treatment of infestations and success in reducing pest populations. However, others complain of methods that aren’t working and trouble cancelling their contract or requesting additional services.

For the last few years, Aptive has provided five-star service at our home. The mini ants and silverfish are gone and our tech deserves recognition for the service provided.

Angel Manuel de las Salas, Deerfield Beach, FL
Pro

Aptive’s customer service is a high point among a majority of reviews, with customers feeling satisfied throughout the scheduling, communication and friendliness from technicians.

Con

Aptive’s customer support only seems to falter when it comes to cancelling a contract or requesting additional services. A common complaint is unnecessary difficulty in remedying a situation if they are unhappy with their service.

Cost

Our Rating:

Aptive offers a free custom quote online or via phone that can vary depending on location, pest problem and season. We have also gathered several factors to use within a general cost analysis of Aptive compared with other major pest control companies:

Guarantee

Aptive offers a satisfaction guarantee through which customers receive an unlimited number of retreatments if a pest problem isn’t taken care of between services.

Inspections

Aptive technicians will perform an initial inspection for all customers to determine their type of pest problem and severity. However, these inspections are not free and can cost as much as 50% of the average quarterly treatment price.

Discounts

Because Aptive is still a relatively new company and keen on continued growth, they are known to offer seasonal discount coupons as well as coupon codes online for new customers.

Annual Contract

Aptive does require an annual contract that offers an initial inspection and five services throughout the year. Since payment is in quarterly installments, customers do have the option to cancel their contract with a cancellation fee.

Pro

Aptive’s unlimited retreatments is one of the industry’s best satisfaction guarantees, compared with other companies that usually offer a 30-day guarantee window.

Con

Aptive doesn’t offer treatments outside of an annual contract, and inspections are never free. Terminating this contract comes with a cancellation fee.

Conclusion
Aptive Environmental has demonstrated a commitment toward some of the highest-rated customer service in the industry. While they’re currently only available in half of the U.S., this rising star has shown immense growth since their launch and will continue to expand their offer eco-friendly pest treatment throughout the nation.
