“We became customers of Thomas Pest Control in March. Right way we had problems. A technician came out and was extremely rude and sprayed chemicals 10 inches from myself and my 6 month old child while we were sitting on the porch waiting for him to complete the interior spray. I tried to get out of the way and even asked him to stop spraying and he didn’t. Then we find out that when we had a spider mite infestation that was even around the back door, it wasn’t covered under our pest plan (when I was told every bug except for bees and any flying insects was covered under this yearly contract) and we would have to pay an additional 150.00 for them to come out ONCE and treat for spider mites. They couldn’t even guarantee how many treatments it would take and wanted an additional 150 PER TREATMENT with me paying quarterly for their pest services. I was shocked. I could understand if we weren’t a contracted customer with them, but we are. I called two big pest control chains and two family owned chains. I explained my situation to them regarding the spider mites and thomas pest control and they said that was their problem and they needed to fix it because it’s a pest and they are your pest control company. They said they could come out no problem for us and treat the issue for a one time fee of 150.00. Two of them even said multiple treatments, if needed, would be covered in that fee. Two of the companies even came out to make sure the insect infestation we had was indeed spider mites. I called Thomas back and explained the situation and they said sorry. They told me that I could pay 150 and maybe have the problem fixed but that since that chemical was in the “big trucks” and we would “need to treat your whole yard”, I was expected to pay 150 additionally. I asked to be let out of my contract after paying for another quarter in June and was told that no one could make that decision because the owner was on a fishing trip and wouldn’t be back until Monday. I find it sad that the owner isn’t confident enough in his employees to make decisions regarding contracted customer service issues and that their customers have to wait on his excursions to end in order for business to be conducted as usual. I am throughly disappointed in the service, customer service and over-all job that this company provided. In the past two days, since this issue arose, I have hired a new pest control company that came out three times and treated the spider mite problem. They came out that day and took care of everything. Thankfully I found a reputable company that knows how to treat their customers fairly.”
