“My experience involved a rental town home in Manassas, Prince William County, VA. that I needed to put on the market for sale after the tentant moved out. The tenant introduced the German roaches and flees problems through her one year tenancy, and the roaches had infested in the basement. The severity for the roach problem was 6 out of 10, and 8-9 out of 10 for the fleas problem. After her moving out, the property was vacant. I had kitchen gutted, cabinets removed, and all carpets removed which created access to the hideouts and made the treatment more effective in theory. The price was $495 for two treatments, two weeks apart the warranty was up to 2 weeks after the second treatment. And extra treatment after that will be $200 each. I also called other two pest control companies for quote: PestNow and American Pest Control. Pestnow's quote was a little over $200 and plus quarterly follow up service and a warranty of one year. Any follow up or revisits were free. American Pestcontrol has the best rating among all three, but they stopped servicing VA area. I went for Patriot Pest control for the following reason. 1. Referred by my listing agent 2. My past bad experience with Pest now that the roach problem persisted for almost a year with tenant lived at the property. 3. The pest control company I really wanted to use which is American does not setvice my area. My initial conversation with the business owner did not go so pleasant. He got agitated when I was comparing his pricing and warranty terms with that of PestNow's and American's, and started to be very defensive. It was to a point that I felt he cared about the sales or numbers more than my situation or perspective. I used them anyway because I wanted some immediate results. The first treatment removed 90% of fleas population, about 60-70% of roaches'. I understand that the roach control would have to take some time, but 30 days after the initial treatment, I expected to see roaches no more. Why I say that because firstly the severity of roach issues was 6 out 10 in rating, second, I had tenant who lived in another property that was serviced by Pest Now for a year, took things in their own hands and used a friend as a handyman to do the job very much DIY. The roaches were mostly gone a week after one treatment. In 2-3 weeks, the roaches were completely gone. But that handyman would not do the job for me at this property even I told him I would pay him full price, as I know he did a really good job. I returned to the property A week after the second treatment,and spotted 4-5 roaches in the basement, so I called back the company and they directed me to the owner. He was like we already serviced twice per terms of the work order and roaches would ultimately be gone. And he refused to treat a third time for free. And the warranty expired shortly after the second treatment. As of now, 6 weeks later, I still catch about 3-4 roaches in the basement. I ended up calling my listing agent who referred his service. She initiated contact with the company, and did not get anything out of it in terms of resolving the issue and serving my needs. Now this company is definitely on her blacklist for any future business or referrals. 1. Value of pricing 2 out of 5. It is twice the price of other services 2. Customer relation: 1 out of 5. I did not get that sense of serving customer needs even speaking to the business owner of Patriot. When i spoke to a manager of Pest Now, he appologized for my past bad experience and offered me an option. 3. Service technician's knowledge and service: 5 out 5. this is the only area I can give a high rating. The technician was knowlegable an 4. Warranty terms and peace of mind: 1 out of 5. The worst warranty offerred in the industry. Average 1yr. 6. Follow up service: 1 out of 5. There are none after the two initial treatments. 7. Social media ratings - 1 out of 5. Because there I just wanted to share my experience of using Patriot Pest Control and spread the word, so you don't have to end up regretting as I do.”
