“My first experience with Hume wasn’t bad. I hired them to treat my house for termites a couple years ago. Following that service, I’ve probably reccommended Hume to a dozen of my own former clients, for which I now regret. I’m a contractor, so not only do I expect a certain level of service, but i can identify shady business practices when I unfortunately experience them. I had Hume come out to the house to look another possible termite problem. I was told they were subterranean termites, for which they could treat the area, but it wouldn’t be covered under the warranty from tenting the home two years prior. I didn’t think that made much sense, but that’s not the issue. I told the guy I wanted to think about it, as I was planning on demolishing the wall that was infested along with the landscape that bordered it, so I didn’t know if it would be worth treating. What happened next is in question, because they say i called and scheduled them to treat the area. Unless I have Alzheimer’s, that never happened. I did end up demolishing the area, and digging up and replacing 4 feet of dirt. I didn’t think it was necessary to treat, and thus i didnt call and schedule a treatment. I got a bill for $250 months later. I disputed it, but they had somebody’s signature apparently. I had them send me the signature to make sure I was t crazy, but it wasn’t anyone’s in my house. What happens next is what I have the biggest issue with. The owner, Dan, then calls and insults me. He implies that I am lying by saying they have processes in place to ensure they don’t make mistakes and if I cant afford to pay the bill I should ask if they would split up the payment instead of lie. I was more than offended and I very much regret the business I gave them, along with all the business I sent them over the last two years. After insulting me I ended the conversation, called their office and paid the $250 along with some other charges they slipped in there for interest and paying by credit card instead of a check. Honestly, if you go through Hume, you most likely won’t have the issue I had with them, but you shouldn’t support a company that conducts business the way they do and treats clients so poorly. There are plenty other options out there.”
