“Hunted at Great Southern Outdoors August 2010 for a hog hunt. Came back in December for a Deer Hunt. There were 4 in our group and we all had a blast. My wife and I and another couple. The accommodations were nice and the staff all went out of their way to see that we had a good time. I harvested 2 does and missed a really nice buck. My wife shot and missed a hog. On our deer hunt there were 11 people in camp and we saw a total of 161 deer and several hogs during the 3 days we hunted. My buddy killed a really nice 9 pointer and his wife did not hunt. There was another nice 8 point taken and several really nice bucks were seen. My wife and I brought our son with us on the hog hunt. We were in camp with 10 other hunters. I took a couple of small hogs to process. I didn't see any real big ones, but a couple of the other hunters did. Several hogs were taken and even more seen. Overall a great place to take your family. I will definitely come back.2012... Returned to GSO.. once again, had a blast. Felt the need to add to my previous review after reading the negative reviews that had been posted. Rex, you can't please everyone, but don't let it get you down. You know you run a top notch business and the ones who matter will be back... yes including my group. You took care of my family and this year you took great care of my customers. I highly recommend Great Southern Outdoors to anyone who wants to enjoy a family get away or who has corporate associates to host. Thanks again.. we WILL be back.”

“The folks at GSO are really nice! The food is ok and the facilities are good. The hunting was about the only thing that was not so good on my trip. I only saw two deer and no hogs in Alabama. There were a total of six hunters at GSO during my hunt, we got one deer and two hogs. Several people went without so much as a deer or hog sighting. I was disappointed for the price. The stands are mostly in rough shape and several hunts found me sitting with the wind blowing directly on the back of my neck. I couldn't help wondering if the hunt would have gone better, had some hunting expertise/logic been applied to the planning and stand selection process. Why even put a hunter in a stand with the wrong wind? I personally expect more from a guided hunt! Neighboring green fields appeared lush and green - while the agriculture at GSO seems lacking. The young men Rex has driving hunters around are really nice guys....especially Adam and Michael.”
