“There was a bird that got its wing stuck in the rigging on a boat at a marina on Hilton Head island and this bird was hanging helplessly for God knows how long. My friend and I tried calling animal control, critter management, etc... and following their instructions on what to do since it’s sunday and everyone is closed. Typically there should be someone still on duty that could help with something like this but no there wasn’t. We called anyone and everyone who was recommended including the police station who said a cop would come to help but no one ever came. We made dozens and dozens of phone calls to get anyone who could help with a situation like this and NOTHING! We ended up climbing on the boat and using a pole to untangle the wing and get the bird down and got it in a box. It’s wing was awfully broken. Again we called the police station to have someone come help us and no one showed up so the bird sat in this box for about 3 hours and died. If we would have known that not a single person would come then we would have killed it so it wouldn’t have had to sit and suffer for hours. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING that Beaufort county animal shelter could not do anything to help because it’s a Sunday. There should have been someone that could have came to help. Beaufort county animal control is good for nothing! But that’s a government controlled office for you, completely useless.”
